Lower Back Pain
Right ladies and gents, my back is a bit fucked, so I thought instead of asking a medical professional I'd ask the Oracle that is WHO want to do about it, because lets face it, you lot know more.

So my lower-back, upper glute always feels like it's being squeezed, tight and it's very painful. When I sit the pain quickly begins to subside, but if I stay upright it feels as of my core is being pulled downward/forward and my lower back feels as if it's on fire. When I bend forward, I feel as if something is being stretched.

Anyway else experienced something similar?

I have tried stretching, back strengthening and even knob wiping, but all attempts on improving my back seem futile, to my frustration.

Advice, please WHOers!

Re: Lower Back Pain
The absolute key is this.......

SIT UP STRAIGHT AT WORK. THAT'S WHAT'S FUCKING UP YOUR BACK.

I know this from experience. It will make the world of difference. If you throw in a £500 ergonomic back chair, plus do exercises on your back at night, then you are well on your way to recovery.

Re: Lower Back Pain
When you sit make sure your hips are level or higher than your knees and on a firm surface. Don't sit for more than 30mins at a time. Walk often. If you can walk instead of using the motor, do it.

You might need to strengthen your core. Do not do "the plank" with a bad back. Use a gym ball to do crunches. There's loads of good stretches too. I'm going through same thing mate. You've gotta get to a Physio too. Best of luck

I'm really suffering at the moment and I've been to see most and don't trust anyone that doesn't take an Xray !!!
Time to see the Doc about new pain relief !

I don't normally swear but it's a real CNUT at the moment and it's ruining my quality of life.

Hope you get better soon.

A win tonight will be a superb Improvement :-)

Re: Lower Back Pain
If I could hitch a lift on Pub Bigot's back here - no, maybe not a good idea - I also have lower back pain. I've never had back trouble before in 58 years. Mine is a kind of shooting pain right in the cocyx (sp?) at random times, only when I put my weight on my left leg and usually after a bit of gardening or even when I just straighten up after leaning over the washbasin or something simple like that. Haven't been to the doc yet so would appreciate the combined wisdom of WHO. Cheers PB.

Re: Lower Back Pain
I am old been and had been suffering from lower back pain for sometime particular after golf, badminton and sex. ( Doing all three at once isn't easy)

I went to the doctors as I feared I might have had something wrong in the kidneys.

After tests he told me good news and bad.

Good News kidneys fine
Bad news arthritis in the spine (the wear and tear type)

I started taking Glucosamine (( one 100mg Glucosamine Sulphate tablet each morning) and it definitelly works for me, although there is no improvement in the golf badminton or sex. So its not a miracle cure,

PB

dont know where you're based or if you work in town but i can heartily recommend the London School of Osteopathy in Southwark Bridge Rd, its about £23 a session and you get full diagnosis and treatment, they were excellent when i went.

Sounds like it could be a bit of sciatica or even a bit of an arthritic hip

If you rule out standing too long at a football match, kidney stones & Bowel cancer, that only leaves bad aids.

Painfully.

VERY painfully.

Then he can tell you, face to face, how much he loves you.

That's right FACT, that is.

Only go to a chiropractor if you fully despise proper medicine and prefer scam artists

The Straight Leg Raise should give you a clue if it's a herniated disc or not:

Re: Lower Back Pain
I'd highly recommend this book. It's about the pelvic floor, but working out issues with that will help with a significant number of low back issues.

Sounds like my back. Got a couple of crushed vertebrae in there have you?
Or your devolving back to a chimp like creature. Is hair a big feature in your life?

"Back pain is very common that is all I can tell you."

I imagine PB was hoping for a little more insight than that.

Anti Inflammatory pills are very good if you are bad but never take them long term just for a week at most.

You've wiped your knob on your back ? Fair play to you, sir.

Unless of course it was someone else's, which might explain the problem in the first place...
